Welcome to LIKEABLINDMAN.COM

Welcome, or welcome back. The latest things are an album called "33 Short Songs About America." and an album called History's Glove Compartment. 33 Short Songs has its own webpage. History's Glove Compartment doesn't yet, but you can download the whole thing in a convenient zip file if you just click here.
33 Short Songs is all funny songs under a minute long. History's Glove Compartment is mostly serious, with the exception of "We Got Some Chicken," which is -- a matter of life and death. I'll make a website for HGC at some point, but not today.
As for the rest of the site, if you actually want to listen to
some of the stuff, all of the mp3s are now be available. (We moved
to a new web host this spring, so there's room for all the mp3's;
you can roam freely around the website, clicking on the pictures
(behind which the mp3's are hidden) without fear of landing in the
Outhouse of Internet Doom.) But if you're
not sure where to start, the Little Guide below might help.
A Little Guide to LIKEABLINDMAN.COM
Originally, LIKEABLINDMAN.COM was just supposed to be a place for
me to put music, in case people wanted to listen to it. After September
11th, I started writing things on the Second Page every week, which
then became the more-often-visited part of the website. But now
I've taken the Second Page and put it away for a while. If you're
hungry for snarky commentary, I'd suggest visiting my good friends
Polonius (over at The
Sneaky Rabbit) and Jawbones (over at Jawbones
Clinker).
As far as the music goes, if you're interested, start with "33
Short Songs About America." It's utterly unrepresentative of
the music I generally come up with, but it's funny. Then you can
go back to the old albums, starting with the songs on "The
Detective" --"Not
Paying Attention," (glum, but pretty) "Cause
for Alarm," (rock! or as close as I get), "So
Many People," (nice. you'll like it) and "He'll
Never Forget Me" (very sad).
Other songs that might be good to start with are:"The
Things I've Done" and "Any
Old Excuse" from "Catch Your Diseases"; "Like
a Blind Man" (the complicated friends song) and "He's
Such a Tool" from "Andrew Ayers is Bluffing";
and "Slow Burn"
and "She's Gone" from
"She's So Big." (Note: Clicking on the links in this paragraph
will download the songs.)
This site remains a bare-bones sort of project, designed to be
unimportant. I don't spend a lot of time on the HTML cosmetics and
gymnastics, so apologies to the afficionados and the snobs. I tried
to make intelligent use of all the little information-nooks, like
the title bars, and to give lyric excerpts that might help you figure
out whether you want to take the time to download the songs or not.
But that's about all you can expect in the way of design or artiness.
A final note: send me an email (Andy/at/likeablindman.com) if you
have any ideas. I'm always interested in what people think, even
if those thoughts have nothing to do with the site or the music.
But even if you don't send me a message, I'm glad you came.
